On April 8, 2014 the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) found that Hungary's new law on church (re)registration, which came into force together with the new Fundamental Law, violates the freedom to manifest one's religion in community with others (Articles 9+11).

In response to the judgment Hungarian secretary of state, Mr Bence Retvari submitted in an interview that "the Strasbourg-based organization is not an organ of the European Union, but of the Council of Europe, and as such, it cannot require countries to amend their legislation."

At the Blitzconference the attorneys of the Strasbourg applicants will be joined by experts on constitutional law and freedom of religion to discuss the consequences of the ECtHR judgment. In the audience we expect guests from registered and de-registered churches.

The event will be in Hungarian.
