This course looks at the practice of international human rights, particularly international human rights advocacy. It examines the ethics underpinning the work of international human advocates, the strategies and methodologies they employ as well as the practical tools they use including investigating, publicizing and documenting human rights violations. It emphasizes the type of work conducted by human rights lawyers and legal advisors, including legal analyses and strategic litigation. The course builds on an academic and theoretical understanding of international human rights law and the international human rights system.
